As part of its Global Health Initiative (GHI), SNF is supporting the procurement of a full-field digital mammography unit for the Department of Breast Diagnostics at “Agios Savvas” General Oncological Hospital of Athens.
“Agios Savvas” hospital is a Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) to which patients from across Greece are referred and helps train medical residents train on state-of-the-art equipment.
The new mammography unit, which replaces existing analog mammography machine, will allow doctors to identify previously undetectable tumors using a contrast agent, a noninvasive, cost-effective, fast, and efficient method of diagnosis. Not available in any other hospital in Greece, public or private, this fundamental piece of equipment will help people access quality breast cancer care at Agios Savvas in a way that prioritizes patient comfort.
