The SNF GHI is supporting nursing schools in Greece through the design of educational programs, the procurement of specialized equipment, and support for research and scholarship programs. The grants support the design and implementation of educational nursing programs at the School of Health Sciences of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and at Evangelismos General Hospital of Athens.

Equipment procured for the nurse training programs includes specialized simulations of medical and nursing procedures; simulators/models for adults, children, and infants; cardiopulmonary resuscitation simulators; digital anatomy tables; digital echocardiograph machines; portable ultrasound machines; bronchoscopes; a microplate spectrophotometer; flow cytometers; microscopes; freezers; a general surgery table; a complete anesthesia machine; and much more.

Implementation of the educational programs started gradually in 2021. The process of procuring specialized training equipment will be completed in summer 2022, after which the trainings will develop in full scale. Based on Ministerial Decision number Υ4α/108199/08 and following a relevant Memorandum of Understanding between Evangelismos Hospital and the THORAX Foundation, the nursing scholarships also began in September 2021, while implementation plans for the research programs are underway.
