Under this grant, SNF is to procure and install Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography (PET/CT) scanning equipment at the public University Hospitals of Heraklion, Ioannina, Larissa, and Alexandroupoli. A positron emission tomography scan is an imaging test that can help reveal the metabolic or biochemical function of your tissues and organs, and is an effective way to help identify a variety of conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and brain disorders before they show up in other imaging tests.

Following ratification of amendment to the individual Grant Agreement in October 2021, the SNF grant ensures, in addition to the procurement, training and installation of the medical equipment, the proper design, construction and outfitting of the premises in the four hospitals, while the Greek state undertakes the operation of the equipment as well as the maintenance costs after the end of the two-year warranty period.
